A shared learning community

Help us understand what works and what can improve

Student voice is an important part of how Caspian School of Academics reviews and improves the student experience. We encourage students to share ideas, suggestions and constructive feedback throughout their studies.

There are several ways to contribute. You can speak with staff, contact your student representative, complete module and course surveys, or raise points through formal committee meetings.

  • Share constructive feedback
  • Represent your cohort
  • Complete surveys

Ways to take part

Four routes for sharing your views

Choose the route that best suits the point you want to raise. You can use more than one channel during your course.

Student representatives

Each course normally has representatives who gather views from their cohort and communicate them to academic and support teams.

Course committees

Course Committee Meetings provide a structured place to discuss teaching, assessment, feedback, resources and course communication.

Student committees

Student Committee Meetings bring representatives together to contribute to wider discussions about services and the institutional experience.

Surveys and evaluations

Module evaluations and course surveys give students a direct way to record feedback and identify strengths or areas for improvement.

Represent your cohort with confidence

Student representatives create an important link between their cohort and the School. They listen to different views, identify common themes and raise them constructively with the relevant staff.

Representatives receive introductory training and practical guidance to help them communicate professionally, contribute effectively to meetings and support positive change.

  • 01 Listen to your cohortGather a balanced range of views and distinguish shared themes from individual matters.
  • 02 Represent views fairlyPresent feedback clearly, respectfully and constructively in the appropriate forum.
  • 03 Keep students informedShare relevant outcomes and actions with the cohort after discussions and meetings.
The feedback cycle

From student insight to improvement

Clear feedback is most useful when it can be discussed, considered by the right team and followed by an appropriate response.

1

Share

Students raise ideas, experiences or concerns through representatives, staff conversations, surveys or evaluations.

2

Discuss

Representatives and staff explore the feedback through day-to-day communication and committee meetings.

3

Respond

Relevant teams review the points raised and identify suitable actions or explain the factors affecting a decision.

4

Report back

Outcomes are communicated through the most appropriate channel so students can understand what happens next.

Training and development

Build skills that extend beyond the classroom

Taking part in student representation can help you practise valuable transferable skills. Training and active participation support representatives in approaching the role responsibly and making a positive contribution.

  • Communication
  • Active listening
  • Teamwork
  • Leadership
  • Organisation
  • Professionalism
Individual concerns that involve personal circumstances, complaints or wellbeing may need to be raised privately with the appropriate member of staff rather than through a course representative.
